Made a trip down to Jackson this weekend and noticed a sign on Hwy 45 in West Point announcing a CVS/pharmacy is coming soon. The store would be the closest CVS to Tupelo. No word yet on how the drug retailer is regrouping after losing its battle to build at Crosstown.
Also noticed that Kohl’s has put the signage on the front of the building in King’s Crossing. The lights are up inside the store also. No word yet on who will be filling the other buildings in the development besides Ross. Read past coverage.
This news is kinda random… Why West Point of all places? I could see Starkville or Columbus…. Anyway, so will it be near the new Wal-Mart Supercenter?
It will be about five minutes north of the new Wal-Mart, which is going up quite nicely. The walls are up and the site is full of activity.
As far as Starkville or Columbus, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if CVS built in both areas. The company is also on the prowl for new markets.
probably ruined our plans on getting CVS.
I’m not so sure. CVS has made it a point to say that Tupelo is a market they want to be in. They just need to find a location that gets enough traffic and that is in an area where the neighbors won’t picket.
Meanwhile, Walgreens continues to grow. The one at the corner of Barnes Crossing and North Gloster is slowly moving along.
OK, here’s what we know about CVS in Tupelo …
There is speculation that the retail pharmacy chain is looking at property in the Barnes Crossing area. Historically, CVS locates at busy intersections that are near its rival, Walgreens.
A company spokesman said CVS doesn’t confirm sites unless a signed agreement is in place, but said the company is “always looking for opportunities to open new stores.”
