Finally … Biz Buzz has learned that Sara Lee Corp. has sold the former Bryan Foods plant in West Point for an undisclosed sum (previous DJ coverage). The plant closed in March, putting 1,200 people out of work.
The new owner said its first choice is to sell the site to another food processor. If that doesn’t work out, it will sell the equipment and “reposition the industrial real estate to smaller tenants which could potentially provide jobs to members of the local community.”
Read tomorrow’s paper for the complete story.
It is already scheduled for auction… They have no intention of finding a tenant!

Interesting … looks like I’ll be giving them another call today to see what exactly they’re thinking about, despite their proclamation that their first choice is to sell.
