Thank you, Congress, for getting the economic stimulus package approved. Nice to know Republicans and Democrats can compromise every now and then.
While it’s a temporary boost to the overall economy, I don’t think very many people will complain about getting a check back from the government.
It is, after all, OUR money to begin with.
Spend it, save it or pay bills? Two out of three for our family, I think (spend, pay bills).
Don’t get caught on April 15, 2009! What they are saying below is that the money they plan to send you in May will have to be paid back next year.
“The package, which passed the Senate 81-16, will send rebate checks to 130 million Americans in amounts of $300 to $600 for people who have an income between $3,000 and $75,000, plus $300 per child. Couples earning up to $150,000 would get $1,200. The checks are an advance on next year’s refunds, and most, if not all of the money, will be deducted from taxpayers’ refunds in 12 months’ time.” -US Treasury Secretary
Great post which summed up a lot of important points. Thank you
