Cheapest gas: New Albany

I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Things aren’t looking up at the pump.

The cheapest gas is in New Albany ($2.99/regular). After that, everything jumps up at least 10 cents.

Regular is $3.09 in Sherman and Iuka and $3.10 for members at Sam’s Club. It’s $3.12 in Starkville, and Kroger in Tupelo has it for $3.13 without any discounts.

And we have a tie this week for the most expensive gas: Amory and Oxford both have regular priced at $3.15 per gallon. Ouch.

I guess technically, things in fact, ARE looking UP at the pump …

Will our gas ever go down?

Sure - after it goes up some more.

But the days of even $2 gas is over. I don’t imagine getting below $2.85-2.90 from now on, unless we discover some unknown oil reserve and/or we start building new refineries.

And it would help to look at alternative fuels.

But that, too, means changing public attitudes and opinions. If we have to pay $4 or more for gas, maybe we’ll start rebelling. We thought $3 gas would do it, but it didn’t happen.
