They should put “Mall at Barnes Crossing” at the top of that sign. Other than that, I like it. I noticed it when I was riding down 45 this evening.
I wonder if the mall is planning on upgrading its exterior appearance? Dick’s and Barnes & Noble look great, but the rest of the mall needs to be updated to match these two stores’ more modern design.
They were putting that sign up the last day we were doing the fitness equipment at Dick’s. It wasn’t finished when we left that day, but I’m sure they finished it later that afternoon. So, that would have put the sign being finished sometime after 2pm on Tuesday, April 29th. If you just noticed it yesterday, you had only been out of the loop for two days, lol.
I agree with you Josh, the exterior of the mall is looking sad compared to the new stores…they should repaint to match
One small step at a time - you’ll notice that the food court is being renovated a bit as well. They added new chairs and tables a few weeks back, and new awnings are being added.
As for the exterior, mall developer David Hocker said a few weeks ago when he spoke to a First Friday crowd, and in an interview with the Daily Journal afterward, that the mall would be “refreshed” over time. With more retailers coming soon, and a move to make the mall a “hybrid” model between the traditional inside stores and lifestyle center designs (which is what Barnes & Nobles is a part of), Hocker indicated to us that other stores would have outside access as well.
I don’t think the mall is falling down appearance-wise, but I would expect that updating the exterior is part of the developer’s overall plans.
Biz Buzz you are correct. We realize that the newer concepts are looking much better than the prior. Keep your eyes open for more changes. Even if you look at the current NEW projects, THEY will improve in a few months as new “things” accompany them. It takes some time to do all of the work. Exterior improvements are in the plan, but we have been focusing on the newer store completions. Deadlines have to be met to open these and other stores. The Food Court is underway. Over the next 40 days you will see big changes. All work is being done after hours, so watch each day/week for the changes.
I appreciate the comments. The scope of this work is very large and includes many aspects of the center. Please be patient with us as we imporve our center. I also appologize in advance for the mess and any inconvenience you may encounter during the work.
Take care, JDS
Hey Jeff -
Is this sign the only one going up around the mall, or will others be placed around the perimeter?
Or, are there some already and I just haven’t noticed?
And, I walked through Dick’s today - nice place.
