The following letter from the IRS was waiting in my mailbox yesterday. You better believe I tore the envelope open in two-seconds flat after seeing “economic stimulus” printed on the back of it.
Dear Taxpayer,
You are entitled to an economic stimulus payment as provided by the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008. You can expect your payment by 5/16/08. If you do not receive it within six weeks of this notice, please contact us at the number shown above.
I’m starting to get the feeling I’m being led on. First, I was looking at a direct deposit date no later than 5/2. Then, it backed up to 5/16. Now, with the letter dated May 12, I shouldn’t bother the IRS until June 23. Yes, I have talked with people who have gotten their money, but I’m still sitting here waiting like a good little taxpayer. All I have to say is show me the money!!!

This is the Dennis half of biz buzz, and I hate to tell y’all, but I got my stimulus check deposited this morning, as promised (more or less) by the IRS.
Don’t know how others filed, but we did it ourselves online, chose the direct deposit option. That was on April 14. Fifteen days later, we got our federal refund (although most of it went back to pay the state tax we owed). So, it took just over two weeks to get our stimulus checks.
I do know some folks who used H&R Block and other tax services and then used some form of rapid return program to get their income tax refund faster will have to wait for a paper check.
I can’t blame those who aren’t happy about not getting their stimulus check - but I’m glad I got mine. Gotta pay for gas and groceries - there won’t be any new plasma or LCD for our living room, that’s for sure!
Well, kudos to you. I checked my account this morning and there is no check in sight. I’d like to think that tomorrow will be the day, but I’m not going to hold my breath.

I filed with H&R Block a few days before the April 15 deadline and was told that the stimilus check would be deposited in my account once the IRS started cutting checks. Well it didn’t go directly to the bank but it finally came via USPS Tuesday of this week.
Mmmmmhmmmmm. May 16 has come and gone and guess who still doesn’t have her stimulus check?
