A sneak peek inside Kyoto

The signage went up on Kyoto Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar last week and we poked our head (and our camera) in to see what it looked like. The restaurant (previous coverage) is in the Tupelo Commons and is slated to open this month.

Great… they will be open in time for my niece’s visit late June. She loves sushi and this will give us a chance to check it out.

I went to a new hibachi/Japanese/sushi restaurant in Ocean Springs this weekend. The food was good, but the prices were three times what Ichiban charges.

On Sundays, the restaurant (Edo) opens up its hibachi tables and lets you be the chef if you have a part of at least six people. The hibachi chef will teach you a thing or two and then you get to cook the food. Sounds like fun.

OMG! I am way more excited about this place opening than i could ever put into words! My hubby and i moved to Tupelo three years ago, from fayetteville, NC…and this restraunt is the one thing that we missed!!! We are gonna be there on opening night, and i cant wait!!! We absolutely hate Ichiban’s. We had the worst restraunt experience there EVER in our lives….they should not even be open, ugh. BUT anywazs! KUDOS for Kyoto’s!!!!!

if you dont like ichiban try shogun, just up the hill….jack does a really good job with the sushi. he has a hybatchi grill but dont think thats their main focus.

i look forward to trying kyoto as well. i can catch anything that they can throw, i specialize in shrimp catching though.

i, too, am looking forward to the opening! I have been watching the restaurant’s progress. I hope it’s good. Although there are some decent Japenese steakhouses in the area, I certainly wish Fuji over in Oxford, Ala., was a bit closer drive! It is by far the best one yet!

I went to the Kyoto in Hernando on Saturday. This is owned by the same people opening the one in Tupelo. The food was fabulous, as well as the atmosphere and the chefs at the grills seemed experienced and were very entertaining. A great family place or date night. There were a total of 10 grills in Hernando. The prices where kind of high, but they had early bird specials as well as a really good lunch menu if you wanted to save a bit. This restaurant is sure to be a hit in Tupelo. It is the closest thing to Benihana’s that I’ve ever been to.

Sorry you had to do all that work for nothing, BirdZ, but it seems Kyoto is looking for a Saturday opening instead. At least, according to the ad they ran in the Daily Journal.

OK. If it wasn’t on the first two pages of the sports secion, I didn’t see it.

Dennis, as an MSU suppoter, you may want to add a comment to a thread I’ve got going on my blog. Thanks to GG for the inspiration.
