We’re getting closer to $4/gallon in Northeast Mississippi each week.
The cheapest gas this week is in New Albany and Ripley ($3.81 for regular). Pontotoc is next up, at $3.82.
It’s $3.89 at Sam’s for members, $3.93 at Kroger in Tupelo and $3.89 in Sherman. Regular is $3.91 in Oxford and $3.95 in Starkville.
Most expensive: all the gas stations at $3.99 — Aberdeen, Amory, Houston and the majority of gas stations (including the one we sample) in Tupelo
Read Sunday’s Business & Money section for more gas prices, including diesel. And, when you see the chart, you’ll notice that the Booneville gas station we sample from has regular at $3.97, mid-grade at $3.99 and premium at $3.99. The reason – the pumps can’t go to $4.00.
Gas at the Super-Wal-Mart in Pontotoc was actually 3.78 when I drove by this morning on my way to work. Being a Tupeloean, I am able to get my gas in P-Toc town and save a few pennies. But just dont try to get gas there at lunch or dinner time. You will burn more than you save waiting in line!
i love how much people can talk about gas……and how cheap it is somewhere else. im sure people actually drive to these places to “try” and save some chips all the while costing more money to get there and back.
My wife will drive out of the way to save three cents a gallon then leave the car running for 20 minutes with the air conditioner on while picking up a $8.00 baked potato at McAlister’s to go. Where’s the logic?
