New tenants for King’s Crossing

Extreme Heat Tanning is getting the paperwork done to open a business in King’s Crossing shopping development, which is anchored by Kohl’s. We’re getting more details about the business, but we’d bet it’s a tanning salon.

A little birdie also told the Biz that Nagoya – remember the Japanese restaurant in Oxford that put up a billboard on Gloster saying it was coming soon? – is wrapping up negotiations for space in King’s Crossing.

In addition, we were tipped off to another food chain that is supposed to sign a lease for King’s Crossing by the end of the month. It’s been mentioned on the Biz before so be prepared to be excited.

Any chance it’s either a Cold Stone or a Marble Slab? I’m still bummed that the Cold Stone never opened behind the Malco.

Oh wait, I just remembered, there were rumors of a Dunkin Donuts in that area a few months ago. Could that be it?

  3. 3 BirdZ! November 18, 2008 at 3:55 pm

    Another Krystal?

  4. 4 fulltiltgolfer November 18, 2008 at 4:02 pm

    Can’t wait to try Nagoya.

I am very disappointed in Kyoto’s sushi. Habachi was fine, but the sushi NOT SO MUCH.

    Shogun is still #1.

  5. 5 tupelobizbuzz November 18, 2008 at 4:13 pm

Another Krystal? I thought we kaboshed those rumors earlier. Krystal corp. said they don’t think our market can support more than one location.

Timothy – good ideas. I hope they call come. As far as this tenant, we’re going to keep our mouth shut until the lease is signed.

golfer – have you been to Ichiban recently? I drove by today around 1:30 p.m. and didn’t see many cars in the parking lot. The “open” sign wasn’t lit when I drove up, but it came on when I was turning around.

whatever it is i bet its something heavenly…..

  7. 7 BirdZ! November 19, 2008 at 7:33 am

Just joking about the Krystal, bizz. That just seems like the only restaurant that has been mentioned on here recently. Well, that and the saga of IV’s.

  8. 8 tupelobizbuzz November 19, 2008 at 8:22 am

BWM, I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s heavenly – that might be stretching it a bit.

  16. 18 bigdraws November 19, 2008 at 11:23 am

How bout the oyster & dom perignon special. Anybody want to raise one of those.

  17. 19 fulltiltgolfer November 19, 2008 at 11:27 am

Ichiban was packed last weekend. I used to go there ALL the time. Their sushi is decent, just not enough variety. There’s only so many times you can eat a California Roll topped with Tuna.

I think most go there for fried chicken and rice.

Shogun is #1 for sushi. Try the Jalapeno Roll or White Tuna pieces.

Just ate there last night, and I’m making myself hungry for it again.

Now if the waitresses would just dress like its Hooters, I’d be set!

  18. 20 no1volzfan November 19, 2008 at 12:37 pm

I heard it was a Hooters and they are going to reopen a Libby Lu’s in the front of the store!

  19. 21 bigdraws November 19, 2008 at 12:42 pm

Now volz, you know prostitution is not legal at hooters. Plus, they don’t want Shopper and it’s buddies picketing out in the parking lot.

  20. 22 getitoverwith November 19, 2008 at 12:55 pm

LOL. You guys are too funny.

  21. 23 bigwoolymammoth November 19, 2008 at 12:55 pm

  22. 24 tupelobizbuzz November 19, 2008 at 12:56 pm

So, anyway, we can GUARANTEE that Hooters will be coming anywhere near Tupelo. Sorry to break it to you.

  23. 25 bigwoolymammoth November 19, 2008 at 1:18 pm

  24. 26 jr85reb November 19, 2008 at 2:37 pm

    So it is a Hooters

  25. 27 tupelobizbuzz November 19, 2008 at 2:42 pm

Watch it jr – I know where you work…

  26. 28 jr85reb November 19, 2008 at 2:59 pm

That’s what your post says. Right before bwm “we can GUARANTEE that Hooters will be coming ” Dag nabit that fredster.

  27. 29 tupelobizbuzz November 19, 2008 at 3:15 pm

Oops – dang it. That should have a big fat NOT in the middle.

So, let’s reiterate. “we can GUARANTEE that HOOTER will NOT be coming anywhere near Tupelo.”

But if one does open, I’ll buy the first 1,000 wings.

  28. 30 Wesley November 19, 2008 at 3:59 pm

I think one of those two buildings next to Newks would be a good fit for TGIFridays wouldn’t surprise me if thats the new restaurant. Buffalo Wild Wings will be another one(along with Hooters) I would put in the category of never going to come here. Biz has there ever been any word of them looking at the area?

  29. 31 bookdawg November 19, 2008 at 4:37 pm

Actually I think Buffalo Wild Wings would be a great addition here (except for those pesky Sunday laws); I’ve eaten at the ones in Tuscaloosa, Hoover and Hattiesburg and loved their wings (they get a little loud, though…lousy acoustics).

  30. 32 tupelobizbuzz November 19, 2008 at 5:22 pm

BTW, that was the Dennis half of Biz who offered to buy the wings. Not Carlie. I (Carlie) have too much faith in a progressive Tupelo down the road to rule out Hooters. At least that sounds better than I think wings are a waste of meat and I won’t spend my money on them.

  31. 33 Wesley November 19, 2008 at 5:28 pm

The Sunday laws are exactly why i don’t think Buffalo Wild Wings will ever come here. Sunday is a big day for them most places especially during football season. I have eaten at the ones in Memphis, Hattiesburg and Olive Branch and I love it. If they did come here I would stay broke I know that much

  32. 34 Shopper November 19, 2008 at 10:32 pm

I have no problem with Hooters bigmouth. I’m sure you sicken the waitresses when you leer at them though.

  33. 35 bigdraws November 20, 2008 at 7:19 am

LMAO!! I think you missed the point.

  34. 36 ripleyreb November 20, 2008 at 9:33 am

    Where is King’s Crossing?

  40. 42 bigdraws November 20, 2008 at 3:07 pm

Out by the mall close to where Kohl’s is, I believe.

  41. 43 tupelobizbuzz November 20, 2008 at 3:09 pm

It’s the shopping center on North Gloster with Kohl’s, Ross, Rack Room Shoes, Catherine’s, etc.

  42. 44 Barry November 20, 2008 at 9:25 pm

Heck I say Put a Hooters in Saltillo everything else is building out that way….

  43. 45 bigwoolymammoth November 21, 2008 at 9:52 am

i mustve missed it…….but as big a deal as i am you’d think they would have my mug in there all the time

  44. 46 bigdraws November 21, 2008 at 12:29 pm

Maybe I missed this. But does anyone know what’s going in that old Kroger building by Gloster Creek Village? The front of it looks like Sonic decorations. (Yeah, I know it’s not a sonic)

  45. 47 tupelobizbuzz November 21, 2008 at 12:43 pm

That would be HealthWorks!, the children’s museum set to open in February.
