Biz Buzz is the online companion to the Daily Journal’s Business & Money section, so it inherently has an expected level of decorum. We are here to discuss business in Northeast Mississippi, and we want your participation.
Think of this as our office. It’s not an uptight office, but we expect a level of professionalism. If your comments aren’t fit for the eyes and ears of our bosses (who read this blog), don’t post them here.
Here’s how you play nice on Biz Buzz:
• If you are involved in a story or a post we write about, we encourage you to comment. However, we believe in full disclosure. If you have a vested interested in the company or the project, you need to tell the community about it.
Example: We write a post about Burger King building a new location in Tupelo. You post a comment about how awful Burger King is and that you once found a finger in your French fries. This comment is fine and dandy if you are a regular customer, but turns out you are the manager at a McDonald’s location in town. Because of your vested interest in the fast food industry, you need to tell the community that you are a manager at a McDonald’s in town.
• Don’t post comments that are threatening, abusive, libelous, defamatory, obscene, vulgar, pornographic, racist, profane, indecent or otherwise objectionable. Also, steer clear of posting comments that degrade others on the basis of gender, race, class, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation or disability.
• Don’t spam us. We will delete – and ban – you.
• We encourage heated debate and asking questions, but if you veer off topic to the detriment of Biz Buzz, we reserve the right to delete comments at our discretion.
If as a user, you see a comment or a post that you find offensive or violates these rules, contact us at dennis.seid@djournal.com or carlie.kollath@djournal.com. We reserve the right to delete any comments and block any user that violates these rules.
This pretty much takes the fun outta everything!
Oh, there’s plenty of fun left to go around, as so ably demonstrated by quite a few people
Good Morning!! Has anyone heard about the new horizon/western rest./gas station. When is suppose to open? Also, how about the Love’s truck gas station. Have they started const. on this project, because i haven’t heard anything about it. They passed the sign height a few months ago i believe. Thanks for your information….
I needed a place to vent! I’m dealing with “the other side of owning a digital sign. First the city and their ordinances of what you can and can’t do…then the sign gets hit and shorts out. It’s been over a month since a repairman backed into the pole and the sign went dark. Two insurance companies, several estimates and now an electrical engineer (coming today, I hope!) later…still no sign. I’m grateful the lease company is suspending the payments until the issue is resolved, but missing the extra income from impulse buyers who saw our ads. Thanks for a place to sound off!
youve come to the right place….you can lean our shoulder. please tell us more….names, numbers and locations would surely help.
Someone hit your sign, Patti! Gosh! How does the insurance work on that? I would think the guy who hit it would be responsible for fixing it.
I’m impressed to hear you got impulse buyers from it. I always wondered whether the signs paid off. They sure are visible. But it seems whenever I drive by your store, the sign tells me the time and temp, not specials at your store.
